Hi, I'm Rahul.
I make gear look like it belongs out there.

Creative director, expedition photographer, skier. I'm the person behind every Cosmic Sandwich campaign: the concept, the direction and the final check on every image.

What I've done

I started my first travel company at 16, taking people into the outdoors. Since then I've built and grown adventure travel and outdoor brands, and for 10+ years I've been the creative director of an outdoor apparel brand: designing the clothing and backpacks, shooting the campaigns and making the ads.

In 2018 I was the official photographer and videographer on an Everest expedition. I was brought in because the team needed someone who could work at high altitude, in harsh conditions, and still bring back the shot.

I'm a certified mountaineer and I love skiing. I've spent a lot of time in Ladakh and Zanskar, rigging shoots at altitude and shooting the Milky Way at night.

I write about the Everest expedition and the brand shoots I've done on my own site, thecarabiner.com.

Why Cosmic Sandwich

Small outdoor and activewear brands make great gear, but they rarely have the budget to shoot it the way the big brands do. AI changed what's possible, but AI on its own gives you generic images. What makes a campaign feel real is taste and knowing what the mountains actually look like.

So that's what I bring: the concept, the art direction and an eye for detail. I turn your product photos into campaigns that look like they cost a shoot, and I hand-check every logo, zip and print so your product stays true.

What I love doing

  • Coming up with campaign concepts and art-directing them
  • Getting product details exactly right
  • Real shoots in the mountains, when a brand needs them
  • Off the clock: skiing, hiking, good coffee, rock music and 3D printing
